Lady in Red

Christmas has been and gone, Some of us are now facing the prospects of getting on that treadmill  (or in my case just getting on with eating all the chocolates that are left over from the festivities).
I was recently asked to make a Patchwork Monster inspired by Taylor Swift. I decided to choose the image from the 'Speak Now' album cover. There is nothing more a girl loves best than a bit of sparkle. A mix of vintage and modern fabrics were used along with an explosion of red sequins (hand sewn) onto this fabulous creation.

Patchwork Hounds of Love

Christmas is finally here, sparkley baubles an' all, however nothing shines brighter than my little Patchwork Monster creation, inspired by the beautiful voice of Kate Bush. The Patchwork Monster magic was helped along by a few (several) glasses of wine and a couple (OK Loads) of mince pies. (My trousers are now screaming under the pressure, but nothing a New Years resolution won't be able to handle). So please enjoy the spectacular frizzed barnet beauty that is Kate Cotton Bush.
Merry Christmas everyone. x

Patchwork Moves Like Jagger

Ladies - Please brace yourself for the latest creation from Patchwork Monsters.

A rugged (seed stitched) patchwork version of Adam Levine from Maroon 5... with a few machine embroidered tattoos thrown in for good effect.
I think we can safely say he's got the moves like Jagger. Although I had to separate him from the other lady patchworks particularly 'Patchwork Florence' as he had taken a shine to her, but she wasn't falling for any of his cotton charms.

Stacey and The Machine

Check out the newest creation to the Patchwork Monster world, inspired by the album art for 'Lungs' by Florence and The Machine. Florence was made from various leather and cotton fabrics with the use of intricate silver seed beads (threading the needle took longer than the actual beading, my eyes are now only just recovering from this intense process). But she was worth it.

Song detail stictched with love on the back.

Album art photographed by Tom Beard.

It's A Patchwork Kind Of Magic

My newest creation known as Mr Mercury was patched together from an old tracksuit jacket, leather (for the mighty moustache) and a few buttons.
The inspiration behind this was the performance given by Queen at Wembley in 1986, my goal was to translate the brilliant flamboyant stage personality of Freddie Mercury into a patchwork monster.
This creation now belongs to my other half who secretly thinks he is Freddie (after several pints).
He once complained that I never make him anything. (OK so I don't think you can count the scarf that I started knitting him two years ago and still haven't finished). But surely this is better than a scarf?

Appy' Birthday Winehouse

My patchwork tribute to Amy Winehouse would not have been complete without her ever growing signature beehive, dark bold eyeliner, and lest we forget the tattoos.
The patchwork magic was helped along by a large glass of Malibu & coke... or two. (I am sure Amy would approve). This time you will be pleased to know that there were no injuries. (only tears when beehive number one went wrong)
One thing that was impossible to translate into cloth was her astounding voice. (I will leave that bit to Amy).
So here it is in all its glory: A dedication to a stunning singer-songwriter, a rare cockney bird with a big heart who was never far away from the public eye. Happy birthday Amy Winehouse, your legend lives on even in patchwork.

Inspiration for the patchwork was the dress worn by Amy at the Brit Awards:

A Patchwork Fox Called Martin.

Ladies and gentlemen please meet Mr Martin Fox which I constructed from recycled fabrics (this time without Gin or sustaining any injuries)
He enjoys a good cigar (preferably Cuban) and a glass of Cognac on a Thursday night. He used to read The News Of The World but due to the recent events he has switched over to The Guardian.
Martin has been known to be a bit of a flirt, he used to be on Match.com but got his heart broken by a Raccoon called Linda.
